TSR day 17

Well, two week checkup at the surgeons office with his assistant and things look great! New x-rays show the implant exactly where it is supposed to be and sutures were removed. Unfortunately, we had a storm the next day at my house and I taught my wife how to use our chain saw because a tree had blown down across the driveway. My role as chief debris dragger didn't help my shoulder even though I never used my repaired side. Feeling better now but it was definitely sore the next day.

TSR day 11

Progressing remarkably well in my opinion. First visit to the physical therapy office a couple days ago wasn't too bad. The immediate future will be range of motion exercises but after the six week mark, things will be more intense as I will be expected to be making progress for real world use. More to follow!

Natures art gallery

One frustration is the wonderful weather we are having now that I can't get out and enjoy it. I am having a great time with natures art gallery outside my kitchen visiting the feeders. There are Orioles, Cardinals, Goldfinches, woodpeckers, purple finches, house finches, grackles, blue jays and many more to delight the visual sense.

TSR day 7

I tried to sleep in my regular bed last night instead of on the recliner I bought specifically for this surgery because I thought I was ready. Well, not quite. Something about the geometry of the skeleton allows me to sleep setting semi reclined in the recliner but fully flat on a bed is another matter. The swelling and stiffness around the joint is starting to reduce and my range of motion is slowly returning. I have a general achy soreness in the surgery area but overall am doing well in my opinion.

Vortex\Hornady Bullet-Cam

TSR day 5

Moving along well today. A good nights sleep really helps and only waking up every 4 hours was nice. A couple more items about the surgery, I was given IV antibiotics to prevent infection and have to gets shots to thin the blood for possible clots over the next 10 days. Still waiting on the pt referral but hopefully this will come through tomorrow. More to follow, tomorrow.

Total shoulder replacement day 4

Due to some serious arthritis, I was a candidate for shoulder replacement. On May third I went under the knife and got the new shoulder. As I am now working on recovery and wanted to document what happened and how I feel. Plus, I get to type all this left handed with one finger. The total shoulder replacement also consisted of tightening the ligaments around the old shoulder joint. The shoulder surgery took approximately three hours and there were no complications from the surgery. A nerve block was administered to stop all feeling in the shoulder and arm area for 12-24 hours after the surgery.

Today was a good day. Spring has made its way to Kansas and is slowly pushing aside the brown and gray season. Semi annual APFT complete and possible progress on personnel issues always brightens the day. Finished my latest audiobook The Gangster by CLive Cussler. His Issac Bell series is a great piece of historical fiction. The Gold finches have returned to my feeders and there were six feeding today. Those are beautiful birds.
